Question by saticali: Any person have any suggestions for dealing with an allergy to cats and dogs?
There is a guy at function that I have been flirting with for rather awhile. We have plans to see a concert subsequent month and plan on finding together next week to go out. My dilemma is this- he is allergic to cats and dogs. Proper now this is not truly an problem, we are only casually seeing every single other. But I have two cats, and more than the long term this could be a issue. I cannot give up my cats. Any person have any suggestions for dealing with the allergy? Any meds or natural remedies that are powerful?

Is it both animals, or is it long haired or short haired animals? Most people can deal with having a pet, as long as they treat the allergy. Benydryl seems to work pretty good. I’m sure your coworker has tried meds, and may be currently taking something. If he says he can’t be around either animal, I would flirt elsewhere, why waste your time, when you know it won’t be going anywhere, on the other hand…………………….

If the allergy sufferer only has a mild reaction to the animal there are ways for the two of them to live together in harmony, but it takes work. The animal should not be allowed in the allergy sufferers bedroom or on the bed. Keep the animal off of any upholstered furniture in the house as dander can be transferred to upholstered furniture. Use a room purifier to remove airborne animal dander. Remove carpets from the home if possible and replace with wood floors. Wash area rugs on a regular basis with warm water. Use a vacuum with a HEPA filter in order to trap dander. The allergy sufferer should wash his or her face and hands after handling the animal. The animal can be bathed weekly in specially formulated shampoo that removes dander.

Well, there’s containment. At the very least keep the cats out of the bedroom. You’re most susceptible when sleeping. You could spray the cats with antidander spray. Or you could just shave fluffy. Air purifiers help too. Or he could do allergy shots and build up his immunity.
